Since March 2024 a registered office must be an “appropriate address”: somewhere a document delivered by hand or post would come to the attention of a person acting for the company, and where delivery can be acknowledged. A PO box no longer qualifies. Companies House can change a non-compliant address to a default address and, ultimately, strike the company off.

Our address at 86–90 Paul Street doubles as your service address for directors and PSCs, which keeps their home addresses off the public register. HMRC, Companies House and court documents are opened, scanned and emailed the same working day; anything that needs action goes straight to your named accountant.

Common questions

Can I use my accountant’s address as my registered office?

Yes — that is exactly what this service is, and it is the normal arrangement for overseas-owned UK companies. The address is in England, so the company is registered in England and Wales.

Is the registered office the same as the trading address?

No. The registered office is the legal address for official post; the trading address is where you tell customers and banks you operate. They can be the same place, but they don’t have to be.

Can Companies House reject a registered office?

Yes, if it is not an appropriate address — for example a PO box or an address where nobody accepts post. Ours is staffed on UK working days.

What happens to post that is not statutory?

Business post can be included with the trading address add-on. Without it, non-statutory post is returned to sender.
